Oh, hello!!

Alright, alright... it's been a while.  I'll admit, I'm not the best at remembering to blog.  I will try my hardest to devote more time to it, I promise!!

First things first... What is going on with Chinovi?  Well, as I'm sure most of you know, I am a one woman team.  I do everything to actually manufacture and send the product to you.  I do have the help of my boyfriend, Ling.  But he is solely marketing and my personal cheerleader!  So that being said, its really only me working on getting your orders out!  Some of you may also know, that I was pretty much unemployed when I launched Chinovi and was able to devote all my time to creating everything, which was a total dream!  I recently started working part time and then moved to full time and then some (over time anyone?).  I'm trying to adjust to having so many hours taken up my work and finding the time to balance in Chinovi.  But I think we are about there!!  So don't worry... I'm not going anywhere!!  I will try and post more on Facebook, Twitter and here now that I have a little more time again.

Second... we have new stuff!  We recently launched our Fall and Halloween collections.  Halloween will probably be taken down in the next few weeks as we start getting ready for BLACK FRIDAY!!  So get it while you can.  I have two new collections that I'm finishing up for Winter and Christmas.

We are also in the developement and testing stage for matte shadows, blushes and brow powders.  We have some people test out and we are now working on reformulating a couple of products!  So keep an eye out for those!

Alright, final thing...  a couple years ago I was struggling with storing all my indie eye shadows plus all the ones I created myself.  I always find inspiration at craft stores (JoAnns, Michael's, etc) and so I chose to go to Michaels.  They were having a sale on all their scrapbook storage so I bought one of those 3 drawer 12x12 plastic paper storage things.  It worked like a charm!  I just don't like the color scheme (purple, pink and lime green).  So the wheels in my head have been turning, and I saw these little photo storage containers that were basically the same thing, only smaller and I decided to get them.  I LOVE THEM!!  I can keep the collections together and then I have all the regular line colors sorted by color.

Each container can hold about 15-16 full sized shadows.  I've thought about buying some thick foam and cutting circles in some how to hold the jars, but I'm not that crafty.

I love this so far!  What do you think of this idea?

Getting you caught up!

I know, its been a while... so I'm going to fill you all in with collections and products that will be coming soon!

The OMG Collection. (Due for release by 8/17)

This collection was inspires by the Percy Jackson books.  I read them all and loved them.  I tried to base the colors off of different characteristics of each God or Goddess or what they represent.

Brow Powders.  (Testing stage)
I love using powder to fill in my brows, so last year I got out some ingredients and went to town.  I've been using the same formulation on myself for about a year and I personally love it.  My brows stay on pretty much throughout the whole day!

Blushes.  (Testing stage)
I have always been afraid of blush.  I think that is mostly due to my mothers love of bright pink/red cheeks in the 90's!  I started seeing people wearing blush, and I noticed that it wasn't always caked on and super out there, so I slowly started using blushes.  Now I use blush everyday.  The first product I ever formulated was blush!  I went crazy and made tons!  But then I decided I didn't like the formulations, so I've reformulated them about 4 times since then.

Matte eye shadows.  (Testing stage)
I've never been a huge matte shadow user, but I know there are a lot of people who LOVE matte shadows... so these are for you!  I've created a few basic shades to test the formulation.  If all goes well, you can expect a lot more!!

Future Collections.  (In development)

Fall 2012 Collection
Right now I am working on finishing up the Fall 2012 collection. I'm keeping it small since OMG's is rather large.  Plus I have a feeling the Holiday 2012 collection(s) will be on the large side as well.  It seems to early to be working on a holiday collection... but yes, its been started!

That is it for now, folk!  I will try and be more diligent about updating this blog here and informing you of all our exciting news!

Thanks,
Ness

Who wants to help me with descriptions?!

I get frustrated trying to describe colors.  I'm not very good at it and I feel like I'm boring and lousy at it.  So I need some help.

Please visit my Facebook page here and look at the pictures and give them your best description.  Whoever has the best descriptions will receive a full sample set of all my colors to help me with official descriptions!

Have fun and good luck!!

Its a NEW year!

This is going to be a crazy year!  I'm so excited since I will be launching Chinovi Cosmetics in the next couple months!!

Last night, instead of going out with our friends, we stayed home since the bf was recovering from the nasty cold thats been going around.  That gave me some free time that I fully took advantage off.  I do sort of feel bad for not spending the whole night with Ling.

I took the time to come in to my office/lab and work on my company.  I'm reformulating the base I use when I decided I wasn't completely pleased with the previous one I had been using.  I also took the time to create samples of every color.  So far, I'm almost through the A's... this is going to take a little while.

While I was creating, Ling stepped in to the room (he said he was bored... that NEVER happens) and he watched me for a few minutes and had me explain how it works (bases, micas, oxides, etc) and after I showed him, he told me he was very impressed and proud of me for learning all that stuff (it's simple really) and having to drive to create something with it all.  That made my 2011 complete!!

He stopped back in later, and was looking at the labels I had made for the sample baggies.  He didn't say anything, but I saw him looking with those marketing eyes of his (that's his profession).  He started to walk out of the room and I took advantage of him and asked what he would have done different.  He named a couple little things, mostly involving sizing and spacing.  I reassured him that the next batch of labels will be to his liking.  It's nice have free marketing around here!  He really has been a tremendous help!
Old label.

Then I decided to  break out the pink moscato champagne at 11.  We sat in front our TV and watched the Las Vegas parties and countdown.  It was actually a good night even though we didn't go out.

Now, back to Chinovi.

I am hoping to launch in the next few months... definitely first quarter of 2012.  I would love to have some people try out some products for me and help me with honest feedback.  I will send out 10 packs of samples, free of charge... first come, first served.  Right now, I only have eyeshadow available.  Blushes and bronzers still need to be reformulated.  If you are interested, please email me at info@chinovicosmetics.com with your information.  Feel free to give me an idea of what you like (blues, greens, neutrals, etc).

What are things you like in your indie makeup companies?...  What do you feel is fair pricing?...  How do you like your samples?... etc.
